World Car-Free Day is a worldwide initiative to encourage motorists to take a break from driving and explore alternatives. It started in 2000 and now occurs every year on 22nd September.
On Sunday 22nd September this year Brussels is celebrating World Car-Free Day therefore the whole of the Brussels region will be closed to unauthorised traffic from 0930 to 1900.
The only exempted vehicles are: Taxis, Scheduled bus routes, Emergency Services, Police and Persons with a Special Permit.
