Little Troopers appeals to young writers for charity newspaper.
Calling
all young writers, budding journalists and creative minds. Little
Troopers needs you this half term! The military charity wants children
aged 5+ from across the British Armed Forces community to contribute to a
brand-new newspaper called the Little Troopers Gazette.
The
Little Troopers Gazette will be packed with content written by and for
military children and will be a place where young people can come
together to share their experiences of military life in print, as well
as reading about other little troopers around the world who are just
like them.
To get involved and be in with a chance of featuring in the newspaper, visit the Little Troopers website
where you can choose from a range of suggested topics including ‘My
Military Life’, ‘What My Parent Does’, ‘My School’ and ‘Where I Live’.
The charity is also looking for roving reporters aged 8+ to interview
local military personnel, write sports reports and explore military
history events. There will even be a ‘poets’ corner’ for talented young
authors to submit their work. Each topic has a template or downloadable
content guide on the charity’s website to get children started.
Articles
must be submitted by Tuesday 17th November to be considered for
inclusion. There will be two printed editions of the Little Troopers
Gazette and families and welfare units will be able to order copies of
the winter issue later in November.
Little
Troopers is a registered charity supporting children who have parents
serving in the British Armed Forces. The charity runs a number of
initiatives including the Little Troopers Treasures App, which enables
military parents to record themselves reading stories to their children
to watch while they are away.
The charity has also just launched a free
secondary school resource hub for teachers to support older military
children in school and is planning a primary school workshop roadshow in
2021. For more information visit www.littletroopers.net/little-troopers-gazette
